AHPSI Expresses Its Deep Gratitude to Hon. Dr. Rafael Núñez

Elizabeth, NJ – July 26, 2026 – The Hispanic Association of Health Professionals, Inc. (AHPSI) expresses its most sincere and profound gratitude to the Hon. Dr. Rafael Núñez, Councilor for District 5 of the City of Reading, Pennsylvania, for presenting a significant Certificate of Recognition to Dr. Aritmedes Restituyo.

Notably, the recent XIII Annual Community Health Fair of Elizabeth, New Jersey, held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, served as the perfect stage to announce and present this important distinction. In the midst of a day dedicated to prevention, education, and access to health services, the recognition took on a special meaning, as it was presented before professionals, volunteers, organizations, and community members who have been witnesses to and beneficiaries of Dr. Restituyo’s work.

This distinction acknowledges his 43-year career as a physician and over 35 years of leadership and community service, all dedicated to promoting health, education, prevention, and the well-being of our communities. We receive this honor with gratitude and humility, as it also represents a recognition of the collective work carried out by AHPSI, its professionals, volunteers, and allied organizations.

The recognition is especially linked to the work developed by Dr. Restituyo in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania, where he has organized three major scientific meetings aimed at updating health knowledge and training professionals serving the Hispanic community. These events have helped create spaces for training, academic exchange, and awareness regarding the health needs of our population, further strengthening AHPSI’s presence and its commitment to continuing education.

This tribute from the City of Reading connects to an extensive history of recognitions awarded to Dr. Restituyo by governmental, legislative, medical, and community institutions in the United States, the Dominican Republic, and Europe. Over the years, his work has been distinguished by the United States Congress, the Federal Senate, the New York Assembly, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, municipal and legislative authorities in New Jersey, as well as by numerous professional and community organizations.

Among these distinctions are the DANR Excellence in Health Award, presented in 2003 by the Dominican American National Round Table; recognition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for two decades of service and leadership in favor of Hispanic health; the Mayor’s Award from the City of Paterson; congressional recognitions from the Honorable Robert Menéndez, Bill Pascrell, and Adriano Espaillat; and his designation, in 2019, as an honorary member of the Latin American Association of Health Professionals in Spain (ALPSE).

He has also been recognized for his steadfast support of health fairs, Dominican festivals, educational programs, and medical training projects. From the distinction received in 1994 for his work on behalf of Dominican physicians in the United States, to this new recognition from the City of Reading, each award reflects the same calling: to serve with dedication, create opportunities, and bring health care closer to those who need it most.

For AHPSI, this certificate represents not only a personal achievement for Dr. Restituyo. It is also a tribute to more than three decades of efforts, sacrifices, alliances, and community actions that have transformed lives in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, the Dominican Republic, and beyond.

To the Hon. Dr. Rafael Núñez, we extend our gratitude for valuing a career built on perseverance, human sensitivity, and social commitment. Your gesture honors Dr. Restituyo, strengthens AHPSI’s mission, and inspires us to continue working with even greater enthusiasm for the health, education, and development of our community.

Thank you, Hon. Dr. Rafael Núñez, for this memorable recognition!
