This guide is a concise, professional roadmap—motivational and practical—to help you register and succeed on the NCLEX‑RN with the State of New York (NYSED).
EN — Five Key Steps (New York State)
1) Credential Verification (Required for NY)
Use CGFNS – Credentials Verification Service for New York State (CVS) to have your education and license verified and sent directly to NYSED.
Note: Other evaluation/translation providers (e.g., WES/World Education Services, Globe Language Services, Josef Silny & Associates, ERES) may be useful for translations or other jurisdictions, but New York nursing licensure relies on the CGFNS CVS report.
2) Apply to NYSED (Office of the Professions)
Submit Form 1 online and pay the fee. Monitor your status and ensure all documents arrive (via CGFNS CVS). Keep copies of everything.
3) Complete the Two NY Courses
- Infection Control (DOH‑approved)
- Child Abuse Identification & Reporting (OCFS‑approved)
A practical option: CEUfast (among other approved providers) for fast, affordable completion.
4) Register with Pearson VUE
Create your Pearson VUE account and pay the NCLEX‑RN registration. When NYSED determines eligibility, you’ll receive your ATT to schedule your test date and site.
5) Prepare Strategically & Test Confidently
Plan 6–12 weeks of focused study. Use adaptive Q‑banks, full‑length simulations (CAT‑style), and review high‑yield topics (safety, delegation, pharm, prioritization). Sleep well before test day; bring valid ID; arrive early.
Quick budget (typical NY): CGFNS CVS, NYSED fee, and NCLEX total about US$768 (plus translations/courier/courses).
Typical timeline: 8–16 weeks, depending on document turnaround.
