Dra Elizabeth Garcia Pantaleon’s Biography.
Elizabeth was born January 25, 1959 in San Francisco de Macoris but she grew up in Conuco Salcedo, Dominican Republic. She is the first of seven children from Jesus Antonio Garcia Pantaleon and Mrs Antonia Pantaleon Gonzalez. Since early childhood she developed a passion for Music and Singing as well as strong desired to become a Medical Doctor. She attended elementary school in the town of Conuco Salcedo, and completed High School in Tenares.
Elizabeth Started college in Santiago “Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra” and later on transferred to “Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo” to continue her Medical School. Since early adolescence she participated in several Musical groups including “Rondalla Amistad Y Alegria de Salcedo, La Rondalla Universitaria de la UASD, Coro Universitario UCMMA, Arpa Evangelica” where she participated as solo. Also Elizabeth had the opportunity to recorded a song and other voices for well known singers from Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as well as Comercial jingles.
Elizabeth started working in “Ramon de Lara ” Air Force Military Hospital during her second year of Medical School . She Graduated from Medical School in 1985 and continue working in the same Hospital, later on she transferred to Social Security Hospital in outpatient clinic for several years, as well as Dominican Health and Social Welfare Hospital, Pediatric outpatient. Elizabeth Got Married with a Medical Doctor from Nigeria same year of her graduation. Dr Garcia and her family migrated to the United States in 1991. Later on she visited Nigeria and had the Opportunity to work as Medical Doctor in “Monax Hospital” Lagos Nigeria for short period of time. She is the mother of 3 children, two boys Chucks and Timothy and one girl, Elaine.
Around 1994, she started working for the Board Of Education for the City of New York as substitute Teacher for several years, this job helped her learn English as a second Language.
In the year 2000 she started working for Columbia University as Technician B in Anatomy and Cell Biology Department, she held this position for two years. Later on she decided to further her education and applied to Columbia University school of Nursing to a combined Master program, “Entry To Practice Program”. Elizabeth completed her Bachelor degree “BSN” in 2003. Shortly after graduated from Columbia, she started working at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Pediatric Inpatient Oncology and Pediatric Outpatient clinic while completing her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program. She graduated as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2008. The same year she started working in Heritage Health Care Center, a Federal Qualify Health Center in Harlem where she runs the School Based Health Clinic (PS192/325/Hamilton Grange) as Primary Care Provider until 09/2016.
She joined to “First Step Pediatrics” to present.
She is an active member in a variety of Organizations such as National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner “NAPNAP”, American Academy of Pediatric in New Jersey, Hispanic Health Professional Association, Inc., Corinthian Medical IPA, Columbia Affiliated Physicians, IPA, and Dominican College of Medicine, CMD.
